This season.

Can you believe tomorrow is 2017? I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, and have the opportunity to ring in the new year with people you love. Over the Christmas break (Hooray for day jobs in the school system!), I have been thinking through where the Littlest Friend can help next. This year, God has put child sponsorship strongly on my heart. Growing up, my parents sponsored children around the world through an organization called Compassion International:

In response to the Great Commission, Compassion International exists as an advocate for children, to release them from their spiritual, economic, social, and physical poverty and enable them to become responsible and fulfilled Christian adults.

When you sponsor a child through Compassion International, the children receive additional educational opportunities, health care, nutritional supplements, participation in recreational activities, and protection from the dangers in their region. I have had the immense opportunity to sponsor and correspond with a child for the last 18 years of my life. It has been such a joy to hear him talk about his faith and his aspirations as he is now finishing up training in architecture and design in his local community. Now that I have a full-time job, God put it on my heart to sponsor two additional kids, and I cannot wait to get to know them better and do the little I can to help to provide them with new opportunities.

This season, 10% of each sale at the Littlest Friend will be donated to helping children who are waiting for a sponsor. Money through this branch of Compassion International is used to provide children who are waiting for a sponsor with meals, health assessments, educational lessons, hygiene training, and the chance to hear about Jesus’ love.
